Keeping your child smiling!

Visiting the dentist can be very scary and stressful for your child. At Amir Sanjabi, DDS, it doesn’t have to be. We look forward to providing your child with a pleasant and fun first experience. Amir Sanjabi, DDS and the rest of our dentistry staff are experienced in addressing your child’s concerns and fears while treating their teeth.

Dental Treatments for Kids

Children should start visiting their dentists by age 1 or within 6 months of getting their first tooth, according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Usually, the very first visit is made to establish the dentist office as a friendly and fun place. This will help your child acclimatize to following visits for treatments. At Amir Sanjabi, DDS, our dentists can provide your child with the following treatments:

Cleanings and Exams

We can provide a full dental examination of your child's mouth and teeth, as well as dental cleanings. These are important for your children even while they still have their baby teeth, and can set good lifelong habits for oral hygiene.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a safe, enamel-strengthening element used by dentists all over the world. It can be applied to your child’s teeth in the form of a gel, rinse or varnish. This dental treatment helps in slowing down and preventing tooth decay and stops enamel erosion from getting worse. Dentists recommend using fluoride treatments every 6 months to prevent dental caries or cavities.

Dental Sealant

Dental sealant is a thin coating of special plastic applied to the grooves of your child’s molars and premolars. The sealant fills the grooves that are hard for kids to brush and offer them protection from plaque and cavities.

Composite Filling

If your child has a cavity, we can fill it up with a composite filling. This filling is made of porcelain mixed with glass or quartz. The resin bonds to the dental wall, making it stronger, and looks and feels like a real tooth.

Dental Care for Your Child’s Teeth and Gums

To keep your child’s smile healthy, help them with their daily oral care.

How to Brush Your Child’s Teeth

•  Clean your baby’s gum with soft cloth, right from birth.
•  As soon as your baby starts teething, brush their teeth with a soft-bristled brush.
•  For toddlers under 2 years of age, use a rice-grain amount of FDA-approved fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth.
•  Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste for children aged 2 to 5.
•  Brush your child’s teeth until they can to do it on their own.

How to Floss Your Child’s Teeth

•  Flossing should start as soon as two of your child’s teeth start touching.
•  Dental floss helps to remove plaque between your child’s teeth and hidden under the gumline.
•  Floss your child’s teeth until he or she can do it alone.
