Apps that Help Families Remember to Brush and Floss

Mobile apps have taken many things in life to a whole new level, and oral health is no exception. Whether it makes a game of brushing and flossing for children or teaching proper brushing techniques, your oral care habits can be made more manageable with the following engaging apps.
Many people, if not most, don't brush their teeth for the recommended two minutes at a time. Moreover, it's hard to determine this length of time without using a timer. However, BrushDJ allows you to set the app on a song of your choice for two minutes as you brush. Great for kids of all ages, this app helps make your brushing time fly by.
An excellent app for parents monitoring their children's orthodontic care, Sorriso provides appointment reminders to both patients and parents, which syncs with your mobile device's calendar. It also offers features to make having braces a bit more fun, such as “Create a Countdown” to the day your child's braces will come off.
Instead of timing your brushing time or sending appointment reminders, this app allows you to snap an image of your teeth and then edit them. You can add braces, reposition your gums, whiten teeth or drill out cavities. If you're wondering if a cosmetic treatment like veneers or bonding is for you, the Virtual Dentist will show you what it would look like.
Designed for kids 5 and up, this app provides a game that teaches kids about oral health, while encouraging them to practice healthy brushing habits. The basic premise is that children brush virtual teeth properly as they brush their own, in order to move forward in the game. Toothsavers also unlocks new characters as children play.
There's no reason an oral care routine can't be fun and engaging. Don't forget to set a reminder for your next visit to our office!
