Delaying Getting Dental Work Can Make it Cost More

Delaying Getting Dental Work Can Make it Cost MoreIf you experience a toothache, you may be tempted to self-treat with over-the-counter pain relievers and other at-home remedies. While this may help ease your discomfort, it is really prolonging the inevitable. If you have a dental problem, you need to get it treated in our office right away. Delaying dental care will only cost you more later.

The Financial Impact of Delayed Dental Care

The longer that you wait to get dental treatment, then the worse the problem will become. If you visit us at the first sign of a cavity, a simple filling may be all that is required to treat it. However, if you wait for weeks, months, or years to come into our office, the treatment may no longer be so simple. Infection may creep into the root, and you might need a root canal and crown in order to correct the problem – if you are lucky. In severe cases, if the infection has been allowed to progress too far, an extraction may be required.

Other Costs of Delayed Dental Care

When dental problems are in their early stages, they are much easier to treat. One dental visit is likely all that it will take to correct the problem, inspect the rest of your teeth, and establish a schedule for future visits in six months and beyond. When dental problems worsen without proper care, treatment options become more complicated. You might need to visit our office several times in order to correct the problem, which means time away from work and more time sitting in our office.

If you want to save on money and time, the best thing that you can do is to make dental appointments for every six months. If you do notice a problem in between those appointments, be sure to contact us right away for an additional appointment.
